Yidu Sun is a transactional and litigation attorney primarily specializing in entertainment, intellectual property, corporate, commercial, and employment law.
As a transactional attorney, Mr. Sun has worked with both individuals and business across a variety of industries, with a strong focus on entertainment, media, and technology, including but not limited to recording artists, music producers, record labels, music publishers, composers, film production and distribution companies, actors, filmmakers, writers, authors, content creators, influencers, video game developers, media companies, artificial intelligence & Web3 companies, software companies, technology startups, financiers, consultants, and marketing and advertising firms. In addition to negotiating and drafting industry transactions and agreements, Mr. Sun also advises on intellectual property, corporate governance, employment, licensing, compliance, and business matters.
As a litigator, Mr. Sun concentrates on commercial, intellectual property, and employment litigation, handling a plethora of matters encompassing contract disputes, copyright and trademark infringement, personality rights, unfair competition, business torts, misrepresentation, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misclassification, wage and hour, and other claims.
Mr. Sun has worked with both individuals and businesses from other countries outside of the United States such as Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, China, and Australia.
Mr. Sun’s leadership and pro bono work includes serving as a board member of Southwestern Law School’s Nickel Club and providing his services to individuals, non-profit organizations, and small businesses in the Asian American communities. He is passionate about serving his community and advancing the arts.
Mr. Sun earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School and his B.A. from the University of Southern California. While attending law school, he served as an editor of the Journal of International Media & Entertainment Law, Vice President of the Music Law Society, and Treasurer of the Video Game Law Society.
Outside of practicing law, Mr. Sun spends his time writing music, poetry, and fiction, performing music, spoken word, and standup comedy, taking photography, reading, watching films and tv, listening to music, playing video games, cooking, hiking, and visiting museums, art galleries, and restaurants.
