September 29, 2011 – The California Bar Foundation selects deserving law students for Diversity Scholarship Awards funded by leading law firms. Lim Ruger has been an enthusiastic name-sponsor of this program since its inception. This year’s Lim Ruger Foundation Scholar is Sharitie Williams, a first year student at Loyola Law School.
Sharitie graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2009 with a degree in Criminology, Law and Society. She was a member of the university track and field team and received the Big West Scholar-Athlete Award. She currently works for the U.C. Irvine Athletic Department while attending law school.
Despite growing up with an alcoholic parent and spending much of her childhood in foster care, Sharitie embraced academics, graduating as salutatorian of her high school class and committing herself to helping others.
The Lim Ruger Scholarship was presented at the California Bar Foundation’s Scholarship Award Ceremony in San Francisco on September 22. Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye addressed the gathering of leading law firms and hopeful law students, offering words of congratulations and encouragement.
In addition to the California Bar Foundation Diversity Scholarship, Lim Ruger supports the scholarship programs of nearly all of the local minority bar associations.
